Who Am I?

Mer-Man!

Mer-Man!

Hello,

My name is William Mayo and I live in the Jacksonville Florida area.  I am currently enrolled at Boston University pursuing my Masters in Insurance Management (MISM).  E-commerce is my 4th class within the program, half way!  I have a beautiful wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter who occupy the majority of my time.  I also have a career that I enjoy, supervising the appraisal department for the state run insurer of last resort, Citizens Property Insurance.  Being a last resort insurer opens the way for a myriad of complaints, with many opportunities for various types of dispute resolution.

In my free time I enjoy watching all types of sports.  I can typically be found in a sports polo or a team jersey.  My favorite sports teams are the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Tampa Rays, and the Green Bay Packers of which I am a proud shareholder.

In addition to spending time with my family, sports, and recreation, I also enjoy following current events and national news.  I enjoy debating policy and solutions to current problems.  I will posts several op-ed style pieces, many of which are centered around my core belief that DC should remain in DC.

Feel free to read and follow my blog, but remember the title is Let’s Talk, so leave a post, comment, question, anything to get the ball rolling.DSC_0070_2

  1. Hello William! I will be your classmate for the next 7 weeks and I as well work for an insurance company, Liberty Mutual. I like the background you have selected, definitely fits with your interest in everything politics. Look forward to working with you.

    • Thanks for stopping by. I’m looking forward to working with you as well. Liberty Mutual is a lot different than a state insurer I’m sure. When I was an independent I worked for private insurers.

  2. Hi William, nice job with your blog! I am looking forward to working with you in class. Between sports and politics there should always be something to talk about in your blog. I worked in the insurance industry for six years before going to work for Fidelity Investments. We share some common interests, just not in baseball teams, go Yankees!

    • I don’t have a lot of room to talk Baseball so far this season. Rays are struggling in the bull pen. I wasn’t a fan of Price as the number 1. He was great behind Shields, didn’t have the stress of running the rotation.

  3. Hi William, I lookk forward to seeing more on your post. I have to say it is a bit odd being a cheesehead in FL. Living in Chicago I hear a lot about the Pack and Bears Rivalry. My office is actually in the same business park as the Bears practice facility.

    • Go Pack Go.
My parents are buds fan so I grew up with the battle of the bays twice a year. Originally it was actually the ninja turtles that pushed me towards green bay. They were the only green team I liked, it just evolved from there. I haven’t made it to Mecca (http://www.packers.com/lambeau-field/) yet but I’m hoping to soon.

  4. Really nice job on your blog. It looks like you put a lot of time and effort into it. Do you plan on ranting and raving about pro sports or college as well? I look forward to taking this class with you.

  5. Hi William – nice job with your first blog! I look forward to reading more of your political rants and raves. I find the American political system very interesting. Look forward to working together in ecommerce class.

  6. William
I really like your blog and the way you engage readers by calling it let’s talk. I think that is a great idea. I am also really interested to hear some of your political views as I work in politics and I always curious to hear from folk outside my circle.
